Love Stories: Oak Hill Farms
To be successful, the first thing to do is is to fall in love with your work,” - Sister Mary Lauretta
Today’s Love Stories blog features Oak Hill Farms, run by the adorable Bushey family. If you need to be inspired, look no further. Rich and Carla put so much love, pride and hard work into what they do - and always with a smile on their face. Born out of their love of family and passion for nature, they make amazing farm-to-skin products such as lotions, soaps, balms, and soy wax candles. They are also beekeepers, providing natural raw honey while helping the environment. What’s even more exciting has been their growth: they started this as a hobby and now they are opening a 6-acre farm to the public this Spring! Be sure to come visit them at the Asbury Park Valentine’s Bazaar on Saturday, February 8th!
1) When did you meet your partner and how did you get together?
I met Rich 10 years ago while we had very stressful corporate lives and we decided to make a change for better. We wanted to live a more healthier and simple life - and to be present in every moment we have.
2) Does your partner play a role in your small business?
Rich is responsible for the beekeeping (our oldest daughter Sophia helps him on that task) and you will find him the night before events or markets jarring honey until midnight. He also helps with everything needed from fixing the farm, taking care of our animals to labeling products.
I create, design and is behind the rest of our products from testing, making and taking them to market. I’m also responsible for all the marketing side and social media.
3) What do you love best about your partner?
I think our business and love for what we do brings us closer. We both enjoy nature, farming, all things natural, we are passionate about our brand and products and we love our tribe. All our customers, satisfaction is our number 1 priority and the connections we make with them brings happiness to our lives. We always say that every person who comes to our booth or farm come as a customers but leave as a friend.
4) What are your favorite things to do together?
Our most favorite thing is spending time with our children. If you come to our markets you will see them behind the booth with us. We love to spend time as a family, we love to travel and we are foodies so we are always looking for a new place to try.
5) What do you love about Asbury Park Bazaar?
Asbury Park Bazaar has opening their arms to us and we love the amazing organizers and all the other vendors there. It’s feels like a big family. When we go to sell our products it doesn’t feel like work but instead is just a fun and refreshing to spend the day with everyone there.
6) What will you be selling at the Valentine’s Bazaar?
We will be bringing our honey of course (it’s important to “bee sweet” on Valentines 😉) and we will bring our new line of candles, lotions, balms and new products we are working very hard to launch.
Be sure to visit them at the Asbury Park Valentine’s Bazaar on Saturday, February 8th!
