Celebrate Spring at the Asbury Park Bazaar
We are through with another New Jersey winter and Asbury Park is officially in bloom! Join us for the third annual Asbury Park Spring Bazaar happening Saturday, May 7, from Noon-5 pm in the Grand Arcade of Convention Hall. We can’t think of a better place to spend Mother’s Day weekend than the Asbury Park Boardwalk, shopping small local vendors, hearing live acoustic music, and enjoying food and drink specials from Asbury Oyster Bar and Anchor’s Bend. Stop by Popshop Photobooth for a cute photo strip and don’t forget flowers for mom, arranged by Faye & Renee.
Both returning favorites and new emerging shops will make up the community of vendors with year. They'll be selling art, jewelry, handmade items, crafts, home goods, photography and vintage. We caught up with a few to find out what they are most excited to offer, gift ideas for mom, and the importance of shopping small.
Jenna Seitz and Bobby Lazar of Epoch Trading Post are offering vintage clothing and a vintage inspired collection of home goods and gifts. “Our Iconic Collection will showcase legendary names Twiggy, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Springsteen, and many more."
"For a perfect Mother's Day gift, we'd suggest our wine stoppers or antique style mirrors."
"Shopping small means supporting the community the we live in. It's about giving back to a town that has given so much to us. Supporting innovators, artists, and go getters who dream big, so we can shop small!”
Natalie Berko of Violet & Poppy suggests her gemstone jewelry, crystal infused bath and body products, candles, or home décor as a lovely gift for mom. Violet & Poppy aims to bring nature, beauty and a little magic to your life with their collection of carefully curated lifestyle products inspired by nature's treasures. Products are created using dried flowers, crystals, and other natural ingredients.
“Our products all come with a story about the ingredients used and the metaphysical properties and health benefits associated with them. So any Violet & Poppy product would make a beautiful Mother's Day gift with a special added magical property!"
"Shopping small is the best way! I believe in the makers of the world, and there is something special about giving someone something handmade.”
Julia Passafiume Designs is a line of hand-sewn quirky clothes for babies and children. “Everything is sourced from organic or sustainable materials and I use funky prints that can't be found in mass retail stores, making most of my small batch designs one of a kind. My pieces are perfect for loving mamas or those soon-to-be-thrown-into motherhood, from organic cotton bibs to comfy printed leggings and dresses."
"I love shopping small and local because those are usually the folks who care about more than just getting the best deal, but instead care about how much value and heart goes into a product. Bargain hunting and the way we've adapted in this shopping pattern hurts our economy in so many different ways. I love seeing shoppers support makers who devote themselves to sourcing sustainably, or creating a product that lasts because those are the purchases that do better by our planet in the long run.”
The event will also feature VIVE L A'COUSTICA, including performances by Frank Lombardi, Joe Makoviecki and Joshua Mark. Spend the afternoon bonding with your mom or hanging with friends at the Asbury Park Spring Bazaar, the best spot to discover and support creative small businesses and celebrate the most vibrant season of the year.
